Didn’t Earn It

I cannot tell you how joyful I feel when I think about seeing my name on this beautiful cover and joining an amazing group of storytellers for FIYAH Magazine’s October 2024 Spacefaring Aunties issue! When they announced their submission themes for 2024, I started dreaming up my story and squeaked it in right at the deadline! FIYAH does so much for the SFF community and for Black writers. This is my first acceptance from a magazine. It all makes me teary when I think about it. I’m so grateful to guest editor Kerine Wint for selecting my story!

And So? What Do You Know? (2023)
And So? What Do You Know? is a short story about two little Black girls who are asked a serious question: if you could change one thing about the world, what would it be?

Kirkus Reviews has a lot to say about Many Worlds in their recent review, and called out two stories in particular:
Darkly Lem’s “Blink,” the tale of a person forced to travel between worlds every fifth and seventh blink, and K.W. Onley’s “And So, What Do You Know?” in which two young Black girls are asked to change one thing about their world, are narrative triumphs with no words wasted, elegant and speculative in all the best ways.
—Kirkus Review of Many Worlds: Or, The Simulacra Anthology, due out in July.
